Tad didn't quite know the ingredients to make shoes shine properly. After he had been given permission to sit down and start to set up with everything, he had to really think about the question. What purpose? What ingredients? He sat there thinking relatively hard on this, he began to ponder how others would know. He couldn't recall anything regarding shoes in the books... well, from the skimming he did. Then.. it hit him. Some conversations he previously heard in the past got him to answer at last.
"Er.. a good dose of saliva. I heard about the whole 'spit and shine' to help buff the shoes. Animals can lick themselves clean so I imagine it works the same." Tad offered after he had his hand raised. As for why? "It's good to look good and proper. You get to be taken seriously.... oh! And I heard girls look at a guy's shoes first so it would help you get a date if you have nice polished shoes." That was right, right? Tad tried not to look too pleased with himself at thinking that through.
