Foster gave a polite nod to Hanna as she entered, noting the look on her face as she gazed at the tea cart. The antique tea cart was one of his most prized possessions and would remain in the room, class or no class. Then Stasya entered and he quickly realized that he should have noted on the black board that the tea was not for them and there was no need to worry.

He watched Skyler and Rylee enter, followed by Jessa, who paused in the doorway causing Juni to bump into her. Before he had a chance to ask Jessa what the problem was, Derf entered and Katrina spoke up. His aching throat thanked her, although he wasn’t sure it was necessary to charm the cart into hiding, he was all for making the students more comfortable.

“Ms. Cambridge. I do apologize if I have made you, or anyone else, worry.” He said in a voice of someone that had obviously been sick. “If you were to take a closer look, the tea cart was empty. It has always been, and will remain in the meditation room, but it’s not here today for the use of the students.” Foster cleared his throat in attempt to sound less hoarse. “I, however, will be sipping some tea during the lesson in order to help preserve what is left of my voice.”

Foster sat his cup down and walked closer to the students in an attempt to not need to increase his volume. “You will also note that there is no sign or notice inviting any of you to consume food or drink in this class. I believe the instructions on the board are quite clear and I hope from this point forward the instructions you are given will be followed.”

“Now, with that matter taken care of, let us get class started.” He walked over to his yoga mat and folded his long legs in to a cross legged sitting position. “You may all take a seat on your chosen yoga mat.” He glanced around to make sure there were enough mats and the changing rooms were empty before continuing.

“We will begin with some meditative breathing. The purpose is to bring our bodies into a state of deep relaxation, removing anxiety and stress from body and mind.” He placed his hands, palm up, on his knees, sat up with excellent posture, and momentarily closed his eyes. “This breathing technique is called the 4-7-8 technique.” With a flick of his wand, the instructions appeared on the board.

“First, close your eyes and let your lips part. Make a whooshing sound, exhaling completely through your mouth. Next, close your mouth, inhaling silently through your nose as you count to four silently in your head. Then, for seven seconds, hold your breath. Make another whooshing exhale from your mouth for eight seconds.” He demonstrated the entire technique one time through. “I would like all of you to do four full rounds of this breathing technique before Professor Sabra moves on. If you are having trouble, please silently raise your hand and I’ll be around to help.”
