"I'll do the harvesting. Go get us a bowtruckle." Chloe twirled her wand briefly before reaching into their box and extracting the wood lice. "I think I'll get us some wand wood, so make good friends with one so I don't lose an eye." She offered the wood lice and a pair of goggles to the younger girl.
Lizzie nodded to Chloe and put on the goggles.

"Alright." she breathed, swallowing hard and then approaching the tree closer.

Dumping some woodlice in her hand she raised her hand to the tree.

"Hello little friends, we'd like a small gift of some wood from your tree." she cooed in a gentle and quiet voice.

She stood as still as she could and was thankful when her patience was rewarded and a small Bowtruckle popped it's head out from a branch high above. It began to climb down slowly toward her but then it hesitated.

Lizzie began to hum a song, the melody to Lavenders Blue. The Bowtruckle tilted it's head, listening.

Lizzie continued to hum the song and the Bowtruckle seeming mesmerized continued down towards her, reaching out a slender finger to pick at the woodlice in her hands.

Lizzie smiled gently at the small creature as it gobbled up the gift. She slowly reached into the jar in her pocket for more woodlice and deposited more in her hand.

"There you are." she replied to the little creatures happy sounding clicks.

The Bowtruckle nodded to Lizzie and then turned to look at Chloe.

"She's a friend, she and I would like a little wood." Lizzie explained.

She wasn't sure how much a wild Bowtruckle knew of English but she hoped the tone in her voice was enough. She also gestured to herself and Chloe and then to the tree.

The Bowtruckle seemed to think and then gave a little nod before it scuttled back up the tree to it's branch. Lizzie let out the biggest breath, she hadn't realized she'd been holding it in.

"I'm surprised that worked." Lizzie half laughed, half breathed.

She looked up at the branch, high above.

"I'll give you a leg up, or you can stand on my back." she replied.
