"All great answers, everyone." Tristan said standing in front of the class with a grin. "And only one of you mentioned the creature we will be working with today." He pulled a handful of what looked like rice out of his jeans pocket, and from the pocket in his shirt a little green, stick like, leafy head popped out.
The little Bowtruckle climbed it's way out of Tristan's pocket and down is arm to stand on his palm and nibble on the dried wood lice in his hand. "Today our creature is the Bowtruckle. My friend here's name is Dahlia. She has lived in the barns here at Hogwarts all her life." As the little creature finished the last wood lice she climbed up to Tristan's shoulder, and rubbed her little face against his cheek. Chuckling, he said, "And she has a bit of a crush on me." He grinned pulling a fairy egg from his pocket and giving it to her.
He was pretty sure that no one had noticed the little eyes staring at them from the trees, but that wouldn't last long. They were being very obvious about it. "Now before we get on to the activity, give me one fact about Bowtruckles. It can be about what they eat, where they come from, what they look like, etcetera. But please, only one so everyone gets a chance." He said with a grin, as Dahlia had started to rub his face again. Lizzie's heart plummeted into her stomach. Her first answer and she'd embarrassed herself giving a foolish answer, now that her brain had returned to more rational thoughts. Tears began to well slightly in the corners of her eyes, her only goal today was making the Professor see her passion for Care of Magical Creatures, and she was doing a 'great' job.
The Professor moved on, revealing a small green creature from his pocket. Lizzie blinked away her tears, she'd seen this same creature once before, in the Hufflepuff Common room, Picketta the Bowtruckle, Derf's friend.
The Professor wanted a fact about Bowtruckles. She'd read Fantastic Beast back to front at least 100 times, she rifled through passages in her head until the perfect fact popped into her mind.
"The Bowtruckle has a Ministry of Magic Classification of XX, which means they are believed to be Harmless and may be domesticated as a pet or companion. It's one reason why the great Newt Scamander had one as a travelling companion." she stated, still slightly hesitant in her answer after the last flumux.
