Zombie Apocalypse Team Leader ★ ★ in a crown of pepperoni and artisan cheese It was equally awesome, and a bit nerve-racking... Being chased by a copy of yourself. Sure, sure... Aaron understood it was for the sake of testing their individual speeds, but... Magic could be disorienting a lot of the time. Fortunately, the Hufflepuff was having little trouble staying in front of himself, as he pressed down against his broom handle. He always started a bit slow, but this was proving that he was able to best himself with each pass, even if his banking was getting sloppier the faster he went.
Actually, he'd had this nightmare before; where he'd been chased by some other version of himself with his own Beater's bat. Heh, his brain could be loads of fun like that. Surprisingly, he hadn't seen that dream for what it had been... Though, he'd chalk that up to the lack of bat in his projection's hand. It couldn't be a vision if there were important aspects missing, right? Sure, he was being pursued, but it wasn't due to impending danger? Even if the pursuit was inspiring an adrenaline rush.
Of course, a few moments later, it wasn't just the shade!Aaron tailing him.
The was also a bludger.
...... !!!!!!!!!
Aaron stuttered on his broom, his hand itching for the grip on his bat... Was this how the other members of his team felt usually?... Exposed, without a way to protect themselves? Obviously, that's what he and Derf were for, but wow. Even as he all but plastered himself to the highly polished handle of his broom, the adrenaline was giving way to tendrils of dread. Yeah, he did not like being without his bat when there were bludgers in play. Maybe this was proof enough that he couldn't be anything other than a Beater, even if Seeking did look like loads of fun. He'd simply gotten too comfortable battling the violent balls, rather than dodging them.
... He was dodging them fairly well, of course. But that wasn't the point. His hand continued to tingle, missing the familiar weight of his bat. Especially after one whizzed past his head, slingshotting forward and quickly rebounding back as if thrown like a boomerang. Aaron evaded the ball in a maneuver Hassan had taught him, diving down a foot or so. It put him out of the way of the bludger, and allowed him to continue blazing a trail around the pitch.
He respected his non-bat teammates all the more for this.
