So they weren't learning about nifflerd today huh? Darn. Tristan inwardly sighed, but outwardly gave Skyler a small smile. "That they are, Skyler. Thank you." He said before turning to the next hand in the air. Quote:

He raised an eyebrow for a second, grinning. "Very good, Abra. That they do." Tristan said with a wink before moving on. Quote:

They do!" He gave her a reassuring wink before moving on. Quote:

By the time the last student had arrived, the scowl was gone, and Jó was looking everywhere impatiently for some sign of what creature might be scared of his mask. Wimp creatures, most probably - but even so, he was curious. He perked up a little as Professor Wayland started the lesson, his hand hovering in the air whilst he craned his neck to see if he could see anything in the trees.
"Monkeys, sir!" There were LOADS of monkeys lived in trees, like Spider Monkeys and.... Were orangutan's monkeys? What was the difference between monkeys and apes? Was that what they were going to learn about?!?! Noting Józef's attitude for having to take off the mask, Tristan was surprised at how excited he was to offer up an answer for the question he had asked. With a chuckle, he replied, "Yes, Józef there are many different types of Monkeys that live in trees." He turned with a grin to the next hand. Quote:

And so, the hand went up in the air with a little bit more confidence. "Clabberts! They live in trees in North America but you're not allowed to keep them in front of Muggles, I guess." Or something like that. "Very good, Lucas, and no you can't really keep any magical creature in front of Muggles, unless it looks like a non-magical creature." Tristan said with a nod and an encouraging smile. Quote:

Raising her hand, and going with the broadest kind of animal, Hanna said "Birds. Owls!" Hanna loved owls. They lived in trees, right? "Yes, very good, Hanna." Tristan said with a smile and a wink. Birds seemed to be the popular answer today but that was alright. It was to be expected. Quote:

"That is correct, Stella. Thank you for a unique answer." He said with a wink and a grin. Quote:

He gave her a nod and smiled, "That is very true, Jessa they do. Another wonderful and unique answer." He said with a grin, hoping to get her to relax a little more. He would have to check on her later. Quote:

They’re just so interesting!”, his enthusiasm getting the better of him.
Quickly, he turned to Beth and eyed her, a mischievous smile on his face. “Hey. Hey Beth. What do sloths throw when it snows?”, a little chuckle escaping as he poked her playfully. Not giving her time to answer, “SLOWBALLS!!!”,he shouted, his laugh echoing off into the distance. “Ooops. Sorry Professor”. "Very good, Ewan. Sloths are the coolest." He said with a wink and a grin. He was about to turn to the next hand in the air when he was interrupted by a very loud yell from the young man.
He turned back, raising an eyebrow. "I hate to interrupt your joke telling with my lesson, Mr. Jones, but I would appreciate it if you would pay attention. Two points from Ravenclaw." Tristan hated taking points, but he also didn't appreciate yelling out random words in the middle of his lessons. He quickly turned back to the next hand in the air. Quote:

And, because he could never resist, he chimed in when Stella spoke about snakes. "Like the Green Tree Python! It has arguably one of the best best adaptations for life in the trees in its strong prehensile tail. Not to mention its striking green camouflage coloring!" Tristan could always count on Derf to have an interesting and detailed answer. He was glad he controlled himself and only gave one answer and grinned when he added to Stella's. He smiled, a Magizoologist in the making, "Very good, Derf. Chameleon's are super cool and definitely do live in trees. Thank you for expanding on Stella's answer." He said with a wink before moving on. Quote:

"A Thunderbird perhaps." she replied quickly, before sitting back down, biting her lip, hoping her answer was acceptable. Thunderbirds were a type of bird, a magical bird at that, and if the Thunderbird was small or the tree were large like the Redwoods in California or the forests in British Columbia it could be possible. Tristan didn't want to outright say no to that answer. Lizzie seemed kinda nervous about it. "Maybe, but very doubtful. Thunderbirds are native to Arizona which is mostly desert and they are far to big to live in a tree, unless of course they lived in Redwoods. But good thoughts." He said with a reassuring smile. But also kinda scary, honestly, with their little buckteeth and beady eyes... "Very good, Benji." Tristan said with an encouraging smile. Squirrels hadn't been said yet, which had surprised him a little but he was glad someone finally said it. Quote:

And then class was starting. The most obvious answer to the question was any of the numerous species of bird. But then, that was already being covered to various degrees by her classmates. As was the second most obvious, monkeys. So, time to go to the ol' knowledge well. Fortunately, her brain spit back an answer pretty quickly. Something she'd seen often enough when she was younger but hadn't seen at all since the move back to England. "Possums like to sleep hanging by their tails from tree limbs." True story. And they could be mean little creatures, too. "Correct, Archer, but Opossums can live just about anywhere, trees being one of the places." Tristan said with an encouraging smile before turning to the next hand in the air. Quote:

What? They were cute. "Very good, Anabeth! They are super adorable, too." Tristan said with a small grin and a wink before moving on to the next student. Quote:

"It depends on the species, but there are a few wild breeds who chose dead and hollowed out trees for their homes... It's more practical, I think, because they prefer habitating near a food source." Flowers, you know? Tristan listened intently to Aaron's answer, trying not to chuckle, "Very good, Aaron, though habitating is not a word. But I understand what you mean." He gave the young man a wink and a small smile before moving on. Quote:

It was part of the job. Quote:

Wasn't it funny though, how people had different reactions to change?
He took a small breath and told himself to focus on the lesson and not on what could potentially happen and that this was Professor Wayland's class. They had him for several years now.
....wait...what?...why were people giving answers?! Had he missed a question?! Dorian blinked, looking around at the others and instantly felt guilty. This whole time he had been silently criticizing the others when in reality he hadn't been paying attention himself. The fourth year grabbed his notebook instead to make small notes to show that he was doing...something. Tristan looked over Dorian who seemed to be very confused about what was happening at the moment. He raised an eyebrow at the young man before turning to the next hand in the air. Hopefully he would get an idea of what they were talking about with the next step in the lesson. Quote:

Yes, there are many different types of tree frogs." Tristan smiled at the young man giving him a nod, before moving on. Quote:

Right away her hand went into the air to give her answer, "Chipmunks live in trees." They were really adorable creatures too and really little. Letting her hand drop down onto her lap once more she waited for the lesson to continue. "Chipmunks do live in trees, Rylee, and they are mean little buggers!" He said with a chuckle. Tristan had been bitten far too many times trying to find on creature and ended up with a Chipmunk swinging from his finger. Quote:

So he opted to stay quiet, until thinking about trees led him to a memory from some summer, "y'know professor, sometimes people end up living in trees too" Awesome Magical Treehouses were a thing. Tristan looked at Zachary with confusion, and wide eyes. Who did he know that lived in a tree? "UH....sure, Zachary. You may need to explain that answer a little more." He was obviously missing some details. Quote:

She was fairly certain they did anyway, after all...they fly. "Yes and no, Kaitlynn. Fairies can live pretty much any place. Some live in trees, some live in this very castle, you just have to know where to look." He said with a grin. Fairies were very elusive creatures. Quote:

As for the question on trees and things, Zoryn chose to sit this one out. She questions that didn’t refer to straight fact recall. Of course, Zoryn wasn't going to answer. Why would she participate in class at all? Why would he expect her to? He sighed and turned to the next person with their hand in the air. Quote:

He smiled a bit. Tristan nodded, "Yes, very good, Lucas. There are Tree Kangaroos. Very good." He said with a grin, impressed with the knowledge that Lucas had. Quote:

Oooo their lesson was going to deal with creatures in trees. The Ravenclaw tried to think of his magical options, though other than the rather obvious bowtruckle answer already given, he was coming up dry. He was better with the more muggle creatures though even several of them had been given up by the time he was ready to speak up. Thankfully one was still not taken. “Most wild owls live in trees…” When they weren’t homed owls and live in house and cages and owleries. Or when they had other habitats like burrowing owls and such. Another Owl answer. Alright then. "Yes, very good, Septimus, thank you." Tristan said with a smile and a nod. There were no more hands in the air at this point and he was glad to be moving on. "All great answers, everyone." Tristan said standing in front of the class with a grin. "And only one of you mentioned the creature we will be working with today." He pulled a handful of what looked like rice out of his jeans pocket, and from the pocket in his shirt a little green, stick like, leafy head popped out.
The little Bowtruckle climbed it's way out of Tristan's pocket and down is arm to stand on his palm and nibble on the dried wood lice in his hand. "Today our creature is the Bowtruckle. My friend here's name is Dahlia. She has lived in the barns here at Hogwarts all her life." As the little creature finished the last wood lice she climbed up to Tristan's shoulder, and rubbed her little face against his cheek. Chuckling, he said, "And she has a bit of a crush on me." He grinned pulling a fairy egg from his pocket and giving it to her.
He was pretty sure that no one had noticed the little eyes staring at them from the trees, but that wouldn't last long. They were being very obvious about it. "Now before we get on to the activity, give me one fact about Bowtruckles. It can be about what they eat, where they come from, what they look like, etcetera. But please, only one so everyone gets a chance." He said with a grin, as Dahlia had started to rub his face again. OOC: Omg y'all are the best <3 Instructions are pretty clear! You have 24 hours to respond! Have fun!!
