Nothing, repeat, NOTHING could taint Care of Magical Creatures for Derf. Not these new rules. Not the controversy over his badge. Nothing. All of that...ALL OF IT...would be left behind in the castle at some point. Just memories that he would look back on with varying degrees of emotions, but creatures? Creatures were his future. So the decision of which rules to abide by in terms of dress was an easy decision for the sixth year: Professor Wayland's. His bulky robes would only be a liability depending on which creature they were going to encounter today and there was a reason one did not see magizoologists donned with billowing robes and such while on the job, you know? Though he did wear elements of a Hufflepuff uniform, mostly his old quidditch tracksuit and a pair of sturdy boots - which was CLEAN and he had even made a pathetic attempt at ironing thanks to Lucas' teaching him a thing or two about how to do that.

Derf otherwise had no problem with the whole uniform deal. It made things easier in a way. No thought needed in what to wear for the day and such so his mornings went more smoothly and he could get going more efficiently. There really was only one rule - two ish - that he did not like and THAT had to do with the invasion of privacy in their mail being read and censored. It was like treating all of the students of Hogwarts like inmates in Azkaban. Not to mention censorship in and of itself was dangerous. VERY dangerous. And the Hufflepuff has spent many a night sitting in bed staring into the darkness spiraling over what exactly that could mean. What exactly did they not want the students to hear or read? What were they blocking from the students mailing out?

But for now, Derf was all smiles as he approached Professor Wayland. Ever appreciative of all the individual lessons and hands on experience the man was offering him in the sixth year's pursuit of a career in magizoology healing. Not to mention the silent understanding that came to Picketta - WHO was where she should be at the moment. "Good day, Professor Wayland!" he greeted with a grin, enjoying the smell of the man's chai as it wafted his direction before he took a spot beside Chloe. "Hiya," he greeted her, glancing around the area and naturally spotting Natalie as well. Who he gave a wave to. Hopefully there would be pair work again so they could team up. He really...found it fascinating - and something else - watching her appreciation of creatures unfold.

He hadn't even noticed the lack of a hay throne at the moment, thoguh Chloe mentioning that certainly drew his attention NOW. "Maybe some of the winged horses ate it," he mused.

Also, Zoryn, w o w. Why was he not surprised in the least about this? Smiling wide at her, the Hufflepuff shook his head and sighed.
