I’m right, you’re wrong. They don’t call me a Seer for nothing.

Now this...this was music to his ears. This was how he would get his nerves calm. Calvin pocketed the badge, otherwise entirely ignoring any reaction (or lack there of) from the, for now, former Hufflepuff Prefect. He was beyond the point of many things right now. He didn’t care why Ms. Spinnet sat, so long as she sat at all—but that had been for her own good whether she yet realised it or not.

Calvin allowed the tension to leave his shoulders and the muscles in his jaw to loosen. In all of that, there hadn’t been a peep and that was how he wanted it. No question asked, no voices heard. The epitome of speak when spoken to. Maybe they were getting it after all.

Wasn’t so hard to just not talk, now was it?

The only thing now was that abysmal hicupping that broke the otherwise relatively silent night. The man tolerated perhaps the first 5 in stride before conjuring a cup, adding water and levitating it wordlessly to the first year. He wouldn’t break the silence, but he would see to it that she stopped.

Now then. Fletcher gazed periodically back to the students while his gaze remained mostly fixed on the flames—just in case. Again, he didn’t have much faith in them on a whole. From time to time he would check his watch, just to ensure they didn’t go overboard on the time without setting an alarm that may have otherwise disrupted them. At the end of it, the man cleared his throat, pulling them all back from their thoughts, or attempting to anyway.

“This second part requires careful attention. Listen carefully. We are all going to take some salt and pour it into the large fire we have going here. Choose a section for yourself, maintain focus on it, don’t go having your gaze drift over to someone else’s patch of salt. Once you have thrown the salt, wait for any crackling to fizzle out. You will notice the salt has made bright patterns that almost appear to be glowing.” Why they needed to keep track of their own salt and not go directly throwing it atop someone else’s. “Study the pattern, keeping whatever question you have lightly in mind. Once you’ve figured out the image you’re looking at, we will begin the interpretation of these readings.” This also required no speaking.

OOC: This is the second part of the mini activity! Here your character will essentially select a section of the fire to throw their salt into and wait to decipher the pattern the nearly glowing salt will make. For now it’s just throwing and figuring out what they’re looking at. A link to known symbols in divination can be found here. Wel will move on to the main activity in 24 hrs.
