Hurry, before it reaches...the..." Too late. The mouse zipped over the threshold onto the bridge, and Solstice rushed after him. Only Dizzy slowed, skeptically. Would that thing hold her weight? A mouse and a Kitten, sure, but her?
After a moment of debate she decided it may in fact hold her weight, if she was cautious. Dizzy approached the bridge slowly, and took a couple of step down it. It was, surprisingly, much more stable than it looked. Relaxed now, Dizzy's pace increased to a normal stroll. What if they are already across the bridge though? And now she was jogging.
But Solstice wasn't acrossed the bridge. She found him half way across, pawing through a small hole in the floorboards, where she assumed the mouse escaped, and rudely ignoring an older slytherin girl standing nearby, looking out at the landscape. "Sorry about him," Dizzy said as she scooped the black kitten into her arms, getting a disgruntled mew of protest. "He's still a baby and doesn't know it's rude not to great people. He'll learn though." She grinned as though she was sure of that. "I'm Diz...er, my name is Dizzy. Rather, it's Alfdis, but I go by Dizzy." It used to be a lot easier introducing herself in non-English countries. Ik ben Dizzy. Je suis Dizzy. In English it just sounded like she was complaining about being light-headed. Her Dutch accent probably didn't help much either. Natalie's peace and quiet was starting to get disturbed... but she was curious about the distant yelling, so she didn't mind too much. Turning towards the sound, she saw a younger girl running towards her and a small black object running in the same direction, several feet ahead of her. At first she thought she was talking to her, telling her to capture her cat before he bolted off the edge, but then she saw the mouse right before it disappeared.
She watched the cat with an amused smile on her face as the owner caught up. She looked a little wary about the bridge, so Natalie spoke up to hopefully ease her mind. "Don't worry. This bridge could probably support the weight of the whole castle if it had to." And that was magic for you.
As the girl approached and picked up her cat, Natalie smiled, not at all bothered by the lack of manners from the kitten. "It's okay. He's cute." Which was saying a lot because Natalie disliked most animals, especially ones with fur. But she held her finger out at a safe distance to see if he was interested in sniffing it.
Dizzy was her name. An interesting nickname, but it was cute. "I'm Natalie," she replied simply. Then she watched the kitty in her arms again. "What's his name?" |
