Watching Dizzy very closely as she took her place at the Ravenclaw table to make sure she hadn't hurt herself in the tumble meant that Runa nearly failed to notice her own name being called. It took her sister's expression to clue Runa in. "Sorry!" Runa grinned her familiar sheepish-but-not-really-embarrassed grin almost, but not quite, skipped up to the stool. There was just a moment's pause to consider the hat before it fell over her own head. "My sister says you talk in our heads," Runa thought to the hat, "so does that mean I should think to you instead of talking? It seems that it would but I haven't met any magic hats before so I can't really be sure since what is and what seems like it should be are often different..." "If you don't stop long enough to let me answer, you'll never find out, you know."
Runa felt herself blush. "Sorry," she said aloud, before adding a mental "Sorry," as well. "That thirst for knowledge though, makes this eas..."
This time Runa cut off the hat. She didn't really mean to, but rambling in one's own head was so much easier to fall into than when speaking aloud. And Runa fell into it easily enough when speaking... "So thinking at you does work! And you actually talk. Like a real conversation. So does that make you sentient? Do you get lonely when it's not sorting time? That'd be sad if you did. Has anyone ever made another hat like you? So you could have a friend? Maybe I could learn how to..." "Almost made a case for Hufflepuff there, wondering if I got lonely and feeling sad about it. But that eagerness to learn how I was made means it can only be..." "RAVENCLAW!" "House twins!" Runa's exclamation was hard to miss as she bounded over to her sister, wrapping Dizzy in a big hug before introducing herself to others at the table. This was going to be a very good year.
