The length of time it took for the sorting to happen, followed by the speech, up to the point that food appeared was always a bit of a long haul. Still, Chloe could bear it cheerfully enough, since she remembered the excitement of her own sorting and she knew it was rude to eat before the Headmistress.
But she was HUNGRY. She hadn't had anything since the chocolate frog on the train, and right now, that felt like days ago. So if the normally chipper sixth year was less than bubbly, it was probably because she could feel her stomach eating itself from the inside out.
