Ah, the start of a new term was upon us! Sir Nicholas glided smoothly into the Great Hall, taking in the sights and sounds. The first thing he noticed was dear Lady Helena at the Ravenclaw table; he waved to her from across the room. There would be time to talk with her later. For now she seemed preoccupied with her students.

The second thing he noticed was that there had been a number of staffing changes over the summer. Quite understandable, given the circumstances. It still unsettled the ghost to think about the attack on the school, but he would not let those thoughts tarnish his mood. Tonight was a happy occasion!

Sir Nicholas floated toward the Gryffindor table, beaming at the students already seated. "Good evening, Gryffindors!" he greeted, giving the each of the gentlemen (Abra, Theo, and Chase) a polite nod... and a deep bow for the ladies (Vivian & Beth). "And friends," he added, noticing the young Slytherin. "Did everyone have a pleasant summer?"

He turned to the new Gryffindor prefect (Abra). "I believe congratulations on the new badge are in order."
