"I am making some great progress." She smiled brightly, feeling the joy deep inside for the first time in weeks. "You should have heard my accent when we first moved back, just over three years ago. It was something. I feel it's not as strong as it was, but it might just be that I'm more used to the way everyone else talks."

Anything the professor could help her with? She took a long, slow sip of her tea while she pondered the question. She hand't really thought of why she needed to speak to Professor Stewart, only that she knew she needed to. Out of all the professors, she felt the most like family, the one she could trust with her secrets and failures. "Well, you have already helped. I mean, I don't feel so much like I'm failing without hope anymore." Her hand found its way back up to her ponytail and began twirling the long brown strands around and around. "Do you think you could give me a heads up if I'm going to get kicked out of Hogwarts? I don't really have anywhere to go if I can't stay here." Her parents were still not talking to her or allowing her back home. She'd been fine over the summer at quidditch camp and was headed back there for the next summer, but she needed to live at Hogwarts as much as she needed her education.

How excellent!

Kay eyed the happiness that now seemed to be slowly radiating off of Lyn. She smiled at this latest development and took a sip of tea. She was quite amused at the talk of the accent. "You must have had trouble being understood,'' she mused, setting the tea cup down. "Not to worry now though. I assure you now that the American accent is becoming less pronounced.'' Though she wasn't quite sure if this would make the girl a little sad.

"Believe me, you're not failing. You're simply being hard on yourself because you want to excel in all ways possible. My advice is for you to continue pushing yourself but not to be discouraged. I know the latter can be difficult but this is why my door is always open to you. I'm always well if you need to talk. Or just to sip some tea.'' Kay's smile faltered. "Really, Lyn. That will certainly not happen. You being thrown out of Hogwarts I mean.'' There was some hesitation on her end. "Your parents?'' she asked tentatively in case it was a sore subject.
