It wasn't like he had been playing hard to get these last few years. He genuinely didn't have feelings for the guy. He even hated him this time last year. But now? It was hard to hate someone that could of possibly been the reason he was alive and able to graduate in one piece. "I also don't have feelings for you, regardless of who I'm with." He was trying to be nice, okay? It was hard work. "You- You aren't as terrible as everyone thinks you are, Carter, even if you are annoying. I'll also say that you are the last person I thought would have feelings for me.... as much as we clashed over the years." A little warm smile appeared on his face as he added, "I do wish you the best in the future." He meant that, and he also meant this: "And if you tell anyone I said any of this, I will deny every word of it."

He would deny every. single. word.
