The Inferi ignored the boy lying on the ground (Flynn). They wanted a challenge, something that could fight back... like the girl who was yelling at them (Vivian), for example. Her words had absolutely no effect on the creatures. They continued bending her arm back until her barrage of spells hit, sending several of them flailing in agony as fire consumed them.

White, cloudy eyes blinked as that thing (Peeves) appeared in the air. Several Inferi ducked out of the way as the skull of one of their comrades was flung at them, but others were caught in its path. With a sickening CRACK of bones colliding, body parts dislodged and flew in all directions. A few who had managed to get away from the flying skull converged on the boy with the fire animal (Ronan), thinking he would be too distracted by the annoying floater to fight. They thought wrong, and the corpses clawing at him were incinerated by a blast of fire from the animal's rear end.

Slowly but surely, the Inferi's numbers were decreasing, but they weren't finished yet! The last few stragglers inched toward the adult and the girl closest to the door (Jessa), their rotting, bony hands outstretched to tear human flesh. Suddenly, one of them was caught from behind by the other girl's (Felicity) fire spell and set ablaze. The others turned to her, and then...

Everything stopped. The surviving Inferi froze in their tracks, their cloudy eyes on the castle. Then without so much as a look back, they lumbered out of the greenhouses, leaving the carnage behind them for good.
