Dorian speed walked out of the castle and on to the ground. He was going to see those northern lights even if it was the last thing he would do! Well, that was taking it a bit too far but his coffee induced brain made up weird thoughts whenever he had coffee.

During dinner, the Ravenclaw had drank at least four cups of strong coffee. His reason was that he had found out another flaw from his other observations attempts. He had bought drinks with him that made him drowsy therefore he left earlier than he had planned. And what if he could have seen the northern lights when he had been walking back to the common room and the walls had been in the way. He did not have x-ray vision. Could he learn that though? Would be a cool feature to have. He had always wanted to know what the Prefects bathroom looked liked from the inside for example.

He was getting off track again. Literally. Dorian realized that thanks to his own distracting thoughts he had turned right instead of left and with a sigh he turned back to get on the right path again. As he walked, he looked up at the sky and saw an owl fly above his head. He did not bring his bag with supplies with him today, except for his parchment and muggle pen of course. Except, he had brought company with him. Ammonite, his purple colored toad was seated on top of his hair. His father would probably freak out about this but he could wash his hair when he got back.

Also, how had he managed to keep his toad on him when he had spend most of his time struggling to not let him escape. Simple. Malin Calin. He had remembered his father telling him stories about this befriending spell. How he had used it on one of the ducks and had showed it off to the headmaster at the time. Apparently he had not been pleased when the Headmaster had called his father “Mr.Ducksworth” but Dorian had laughed so hard that he nearly fell off the chair in the kitchen back ho----------

A greenish light in the corner of his eyes caught his attention and he turned his head to the side and then looked up at the sky. But the aurora borealis was not visible. Had he imagined it? Maybe he shouldn’t have drank coffee. But it was his goal to stay awake until at least 4am , the time when the aurora borealis could not be seen anymore and he had carefully planned this day because tomorrow was Saturday so he could sleep in and not worry about classes. It was the PERFECT plan if he had to say so himself.

”I must have imagined it, Ammonite” he said to the toad who obviously ignored him. Perhaps it had been one of the students practicing their spells and he had caught sight of the green sparks? Or perhaps he needed MORE coffee! Too bad he didn’t have anything with him. Ugh he was so stupid.

He continued his walk, enjoying the scenery at nights view. The Lake seemed to ripple by an unknown force and as he looked back at the castle it seemed to glow in the moonlight and….

”WOOOOAH!” The Ravenclaw spun around on his heels and looked up at the sky. Above him, he could clearly see the northern lights! It was BEAUTIFUL. No words could not even describe it! It was ineffable! Get it? He was a genius. The teenager stood still, observing the ineffable phenomenon in the sky as the aurora borealis changed colors from green to pink.

……wait now it was yellow….and purple now….was it supposed to change colors that fast? Dorian scratched his neck as he watched in confusion as the northern lights changed color every second in front of his eyes. Was he witnessing a rare moment? ”Hey, Ammonite is this normal you think?” he asked the toad that was not on his head anymore but next to him, human sized as well.

The sight scared him so much that he fell backwards on to the ground with a yell, a yell that continued as he shot up right. He rubbed his blue eyes and looked around him. He was outside on a blanket in the tower patch. He let out another yell when the topiary of a lion was in front of him, obviously he had been observing the sky here but he must have fallen asleep earlier. He checked his watch to see what time it was. 5:45…Merlin’s Beard had he slept outside until this time? AND WHY WAS IT FREEZING COLD ALL OF THE SUDDEN? Oh right it was nearing WINTER.

Well, he lied back down on the blanket again and held his arms behind his head. He was here already, he could watch the sunrise instead.

SPOILER!!: Observation Notes Name: Dorian Katharos Year: 3rd House: Ravenclaw Time Stamp: I forgot, sorry Date: December 4th 2095 Before I begin, I apologize for my writing because my observation night is kind of foggy. Reason is, I did not observe the sky tonight. I had fallen asleep. Im so sorry! I could have written down that I had seen the aurora borealis but that would have been a lie. Well, half truth actually. You see, when I fell asleep on the tower patch, I had a dream that I was walking on the grounds and I saw the northern lights above the castle! It was SO pretty to see. It was as if it had chosen the school to shine its colorful light upon. And then it started to change colors, like green-pink-blue-purple. Each color came second after second, you should have seen it Professor! Way better than the northern lights that weren’t even visible AGAIN. Although now I think about it, I was asleep so maybe it had been there and I did not know… Anyways, I apologize again and please don’t take away points because I slept outside of the common room. Also, coffee does not make you energetic, it makes you sleepy. False advertisement that coffee stuff. __________________
