Maddie squeezed her eyes shut. She was still trying to dig deep into the depths of her mind and wake up from the nightmare she was currently having. But she could still hear them. The banging was getting louder and louder and louder. Another tear trickled down her cheek, and she opened her eyes.

...and saw a skeletal hand poking its way through a now open door. She gasped, and ended the spell of fire that was encircling her. "Incendio!" she called out, shooting the fire toward the door. "Incendio!" She then re-cast the lasso of fire around her, surprising herself at how much she'd learn about defense and protection.

It was then that she noticed Gunnar had joined them, causing a previously protected Chloe to now be unprotected. "Chloe! Gunnar!" she called out. "They're coming! Get by someone with fire! Hurry!"
