Maddie couldn't believe that as much as she had been involved in classes this year and strived to make the best grades possible, that she'd waited this long to start on her term-long assignment. The due date was a few days away, and she was
just getting started. Basically, she needed to do an observation a night in order to fulfill what she needed to do.
So there was no time like the present to go ahead and get started. It was late, and Maddie was a little spooked as she walked out onto the grounds and toward the igloo. It was one of the four different places she'd chosen to look for the Northern Lights. Tossed across her shoulder was a bag that she'd charmed to hold all the items she'd need while out and about tonight.
One of those items was a blanket, and although it wasn't cold weather anymore, she'd brought it along to lie on as she watched the skies. She spread it out just outside the igloo and sat down on it. She took out her notes from class, a quill, and a fresh piece of parchment. She stretched out on her back and looked up at the sky above her.
She remembered that the most common colors were pink and green, so she wondered if she see any of those colors outside tonight. So far, she saw nothing. Well, nothing relating to what she was looking for, at least. She also listened for unusual sounds, even though the professor had said they were very soft. After a while, she simply sighed. There had been no sight of anything in the sky relating to the Northern Lights. Frowning, she sat up and picked up her quill and parchment.

Observations
By: Maddie Kemp
Day: Monday, just at nightfall
I decided to do my first observation on the grounds next to the igloo. I brought along a blanket to lie on and stretched out to study the sky. The main parts I looked for were pink and green colors and any possible sounds. I didn't even see the first sign of the Northern Lights.
