In her terror, she allowed Rylee to pull her up to a standing position, her wand still firmly grasped in her left hand and pointed at the giant bat. She tried to walk backwards with Rylee toeing her along, but her legs were jelly and could not both maintain her standing and walking at the same time. Her sweet friend was trying to drag her to safety and her body was not cooperating.

"Leave me and run. Don't let it get..." She trailed off as the creature suddenly began changing shape!! "You're right, it is one of those changing things." Her heart was still pounding as if it wanted to escape her body and run away, far away. Rylee's words were ringing in her ears Riddikulus Riddikulus Riddikulus.


"I don't know the wand movement. I can't remember." Out of complete terror and frustration, she waved her wand at the shifting creature and screamed "RIDDIKULUS!!!" as loud as she possibly could. Her eyes immediately closed as she pictured Professor Noble wearing a pink ladybug costume, complete with curly pink antenna. It was all she could think of and it even made her giggle just a little bit through the all consuming fear.

She hoped with all she had in her that the spell would work. She also vowed in that very moment to spend as much time as possible practicing Defense Against the Dark Arts every single day for the rest of the term.
