He couldn't help but frown at her comment about Cordelia being the pretty one - what was she talking about? Shaking his head with a small grin on his face, he said, "I don't think you need to trip into any fountains." Because he did read about the fountain that she'd mentioned, and he knew exactly what she was hinting at.
Supposing that he'd guessed correctly that her sister went to Beauxbatons, he asked, "How come you two went to different schools?" It saddened him to listen to Beth talk about her, because to him it seemed as though she missed Cordelia more than she let it show, and she was clearly upset about them being separated.
He was about to open his mouth to answer her question, but halted when she leaned her head on his shoulder as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Whereas he was having a mental breakdown.
