Lydia was in a great mood on her way to Herbology. Along with Charms, it was one of her favorite classes, and Professor Myers was her favorite professor. He was just always so cheerful and fun to be around. As she stepped into the greenhouse, the wave of humidity rolled over her, and she took a deep breath, which turned out to be a very bad idea, because something smelled AWFUL in here. And she wasn't exactly to pleased to find Professor Noble of Potions standing next to Professor Myers. Potions was her least favorite class.

Finding a place around the rancid-smelling corpse flower in the middle of the room, Lydia gave Professor Myers a huge smile. "Hello, Professor!" she called. Turning to Professor Noble, she gave a much more subdued greeting. "Erm, and hello to you too, Professor Noble."

Lydia gathered her supplies. Apparently they'd need face masks for this. Urgh, corpse flowers were totally gross, even if they were fascinating. Why would they need face masks? She had a bad feeling about that. And why did they have to bring toe nails too? Extra gross! But she'd done as asked and brought some clippings in a muggle sandwich baggie.

Professor Myers almost tripped over someone's bag (poor professor!) as he was explaining that the flower in the room was a corpse flower. Having already pored through the herbology textbook (it was fascinating!), Lydia had already suspected that it was indeed a corpse flower. Now the professor was asking them about it.

Lydia's hand shot into the air. "The muggle scientific term for the Corpse Flower is the Amorphophallus titanum, Professor Myers. It's called a carrion flower, because instead of being pollinated by bees it uses insects that eat dead animals instead, like Nettie mentioned."
