The portraits had drawn Quinn's attention since the start of term, but she had not made it down to the first floor to browse them while she had time to actually browse. The downside of living in one of the high towers. And while Hogwarts was covered in paintings and portraits all over, the highest concentration of portraits seemed to be here, on the first floor.
She slowly wandered the corridor, studying each portrait silently but with a look of awe in her sparkling blue eyes. These walls were a shrine of true talent. Wizard photography was on thing. You could luck out often enough with a camera and capture an exquisite moment that'll play out forever. But paintings? Portraits? If she stopped to think, honestly, of how much talent is required to capture a person so thoroughly in oils that it breathes some of the subjects life into the portrait of them, it made her numb. The essence of who that witch or wizard was, their personality and mannerisms, perfectly preserved forever as an almost living entity in the canvas.
This was a talent that Quinn was quite envious of those who possessed it.
