Multi-axel bind runes
As opposed to the single axel or normal bind runes he supposed. Septimus was doing his best to follow along with the lesson but it wasn’t the easiest. As for the curious object found in the lake, yeah he remembered that even if he hadn’t been part of the wandering students who made the actual discovery. The second year had found the matter a mix of interesting and something to be cautious about. His mum certainly warned him enough about odd occurrences and weird items at Hogwarts during her time.
Not that his interested couldn’t be piqued. They were going to get to examine them before the professionals would…cool! Septimus got up from his seat as directed so he could get a better look at each of the five objects and the runes that were revealed. He himself got to look at the two brooches when he got his chance to be up close and personal before the fifteen minutes allotted to them for such observances.
The first brooch seemed to have an A, Y and L. Or was that a couple of X’s. NAUTHIZ would be an option if the latter was right. So a bind rune that had to do with need…possibly. The second had a raidho unless he was mistaken, although it was backwards so it could be wrong. There were also a mess of flag-like additions on the other side that he had struggled to identify from the options. Since raidho meant journey, he supposed that it was a rune for a safe passage on whatever travels the wearer was going on.

Then the headmistress was moving them on, the five various bind runes and their meanings scralled on the chalkboard. He had been completely off with the first brooch but had been right with the raidho in the second. FEHU! He should have caught that. Oh well. Septimus copied the corrections into his notes as he listened to the professor and her question. Now that he knew the other runes on the second brooch with the raidho, he chose that one to delve deeper on.
