Hogwarts RPG Name: Andromeda Renzler-Denaker Gryffindor First Year | Fluttery Pegasi Quinn sighed audibly, running her hands through her hair in frustration as she poured over her text book. She was an utter idiot, to be perfectly honest. The hingestrap had two runes to it, and those, in her mind, were easy: Isa and Thurisaz. So, naturally, Quinn opted not to do that one.
Because Ancient Runes weren't challenging enough for her already, she had to make it worse, and not pick the easy one. She was, as previously stated, an idiot.
No, Quinnlin Kevelle had tormented herself quite plainly by choosing the hardest ones. The Penannular Brooch, and the Arm Ring.
The Penannular Brooch was giving her a headache. She was quite sure she was able to break down the bindrune into it's three shapes. One was clearly Ansuz. It was the other two giving her trouble. There was one that looked like a R, proper facing: Raidho. But there wasn't a R shape that faced the other way.... There was one in the Russian alphabet though, she knew. Maybe they had borrowed that letter from Russia when making this.
No, that was idiotic. Which fit, because she was an idiot.
And lastly, there was what was probably Fehu, only in the book Fehu's arms curved upward, and on the rune they didn't curve at all. It was probably Fehu, but didn't Professor Hawthorne say something about the runes not always being proper facing in bindrunes?
....
She scoffed at herself. Well, in that case, Raidho was clearly one, just backwards. So....Fehu, Raidho and Ansuz? As good a guess as any. Quinn picked up her quill and started to write down her guess.
One down. Now for the arm ring. Idiot. She could have picked the hinge strap. She could still switch even, but nope. Idiot. Quinn examined the bindrune critically and closely. Othala was clearly there. It jumped out at her even. Perhaps Algiz too? But in the book all three branches of algiz were equal thickness, and on the rune, if it was algiz, the right one would be super thin, as opposed to the left most which was, by appearances, much thicker.
Uruz seemed to make up the third, doing the same thing that Fehu did: curve in the book but not on the rune. So Othala and Uruz, yeah? And.... she spent another five minutes flipping through the book looking for other possible options, but Algiz remained the best option it seemed. With another heavy sigh, Quinn dipped her quill in her scarlet ink and wrote them down.
There now. Quinn set down her quill and frowned at her parchment. She was done, and was somewhat confident in her answers. They seemed the best options for the runes, but she was also not exactly confident either.
