Bathes in Maple Syrup | Dancing Lobster | Mrs. Charlie Weasley | Seneca's Beard | That's So Fetch The headmistress beamed when the Hufflepuff said that she figured she would say that. Truth be told, Regina wasn't surprised by it herself. It had been a sort of slogan for her for many years having been the Defensive Studies professor at Ilvermorny before coming to Hogwarts and, even before that, a Curse-Breaker. Vigilance was a nonnegotiable in those fields of work.
When the third year started looking around the room at the walls, Regina did the same. Was there something odd there? After the question was asked, the headmistress looked back at Maddie. "I can't say for certain who carved all of the runes," she admitted, having only been at Hogwarts for a handful of years. "Some of it was probably done hundreds of years ago, but some of the writings are pretty recent."
And then they were back to the box. More questions were asked, naturally, and all the woman could do was smile at the girl's curiosity. "I'm sure it's been opened before, how recently I'm not sure," she said. There was a pause before she answered the second question. "I have certainly tried myself, but with no luck. But I'm sure I could after doing some more thorough research." Even though the box was a huge mystery, there were sure to be clues hidden somewhere.
