St Mungo's Hospital for Magical Maladies and Injuries has today announced they are undertaking a special study regarding the increase in multiple births to magical mothers in recent years. The research will be conducted by St Mungo's in cooperation with several international magical medical institutions.

"The birthrate of multiples has increased substantially in the past 20 years, and while this is also true of the muggle world to a lesser degree, relating to older mothers and the use of fertility treatments, in magical cases there appears to be an even higher likelihood of multiple births and we want to understand why." A representative said. "We aim to look at the exposure of the parents of multiples, particularly the mothers during pregnancy, to different spells and potions, as well as to magically resonant areas."

The study will take into account birth records in magical hospitals alongside a survey of parents of multiples, and ongoing observation of women currently pregnant with multiples.
