It just adults always felt tricky to her, and it took a certain type to make her feel at ease to open up to, and ask for help, even for working out spell ideas. And while Professor Marchand in no way made her feel ill at ease, or uncomfortable in anyway, the reverse was also true. He hadn't exactly made her feel at ease or comfortable either. She was still rather indifferent and undecided about him. Same with her own Head of House. It wasn't through any fault of their own, honestly. It simply was teh way she was.
Perhaps, she'd go to Professor Grimsbane and see if she can be of any help. Or she might try to work it out herself, make this one be the first she does on her own. "I've been looking into a spell that Professor Kennedy taught...the class." She couldn't really say, 'we' as she'd missed that part of the lecture, but Rylee and given Reese her notes and they had gone over the spell together. "The one that let him produce an aurora like effect. I figure look into ways to maybe modify that would be a good start."
Quinn flashed a slightly sheepish smile at the Headmistress's next question. "I had used the spare office a bit before I found the Room of Requirement, but people kept interrupting..." In no way was that meant as a dig at the Headmistress at present, but she did ask, and that was the truth. "I thought up here might give me some more solitude." And it had. The Headmistress found her as she was starting to wrap up anyway, and so hadn't necessarily been interrupting all that much. "I like my space sometimes..." She added, hastily. It was more than sometimes honestly, but sometimes sounded better to grown-ups. "What was school like for you, Headmistress?" Quinn had heard that she hadn't attended Hogwarts, but wasn't sure what school she had attended, if that was even true to begin with. Her accent certainly seemed to confirm it, but Quinn's grasp of accents outside the UK and some more prominent European countries was very weak. American, or Canadian, or Australian, she'd venture to guess based on the Headmistress's English, but she couldn't really rule out anywhere else either. The lack of a verbal response concerning Marchand didn't go unnoticed, likewise with the slight change in facial expression. The headmistress, of course, didn't pry into that further. If anything, it was just a small seed that was meant to be planted in the girl. Being that Charms professor, it only made sense to go to him for immediate help. And Regina honestly hoped that the girl wasn't going to try anything that advanced on her own at this point in her years of academics. Quinn still had much to learn, and experimenting with spells did have its risks.
Her face remained neutral though, even as she went on about a spell that Kalen had taught them. Was this the lesson that he had kicked her and Mr. Prichard out of, hmm? Again, she didn't pry into that even though it was concerning. But there was a time and a place for all of that, and right here on the battlements was not it.
"Ahh, yes, that would be a good place to start," the woman concurred.
There was no response given about the mention of the spare office, thinking there would be solitude up at the battlements, and liking space sometimes. All Regina could do was nod her head in understanding. Plus there really wasn't much of an opportunity to weigh in on that as the Ravenclaw was asking her about her own years at school.
"I rather enjoyed my time at school, at Ilvermorny," she stated truthfully with a nod. "I was sorted into Horned Serpent, did exceptionally well in my studies, and learned early on that I had a passion for curse-breaking."
