Still, she took the hint and lovingly returned her violin to its case. "I just came up here for a bit of solitude. Music helps me..." Her eyes flicked back to the Headmistress, almost as if trying to read her thoughts from her expression. How much did Professors actually share with the Headmistress about things, possibly, going on with students? The Headmistress wasn't letting much show on her face, so it was difficult to say. "....with things."
Best just leave it there for now, yeah?
Quinn slipped the violin case into her messenger bag, and picked up her book. "I was trying to work out a new spell idea I had." As a first year, it would be a while before she could hope to succeed at inventing her own spells, at least without bring them to Imogen or some other adult to assist her in working it out and casting it. But that didn't mean she couldn't start working on it now. "What brings you up here?" She asked in what might have been a mixture of curiosity and suspicion. She could remember seeing the Headmistress up here before. The headmistress remained expressionless, not showing any signs that she had noticed the girl's reaction to her being there even though the music stopping and position straightening made things obvious to infer that she had interrupted something.
She silently watched as Quinn placed the violin in its case. An eyebrow did rise when the Ravenclaw mentioned that playing music helped her 'with things,' but she didn't inquire about that. Regina could assume, given what she had been told about the girl from her colleagues in addition with general knowledge about the behaviours and coping mechanisms of young adolescents. Regardless, if the girl wanted to give any more details, she'd let that happen naturally.
"What is the new spell you're thinking of?" the woman asked, genuinely curious.
As for Quinn's own question, the headmistress cracked a smile and said, "I was just heading down to the dining hall after having a quick conversation with one of the professors. Then the sound of a violin caught my attention and caused me to go on a little detour."
