After she had written her notes, Daisy fetched a pumpkin of a significant size and placed it on the desk in front of her. She was thinking about a design when she heard Emmalyn next to her. "I'll be happy to carve your pumpkin for you."
"Thank you!" Not only was someone going to help her, it was Daisy. She quickly slid her pumpkin closer and smiled brightly at her friend.
"I wasn't thinking fancy, maybe some simple triangles for eyes, a round nose, and toothy grin for a mouth?" Hopefully that didn't sound too childish. The pumpkin was on the small side and she figured she might end up messing up the spell to turn it to stone anyway. No need to go to a lot of work making it look extra creepy.
As she waited on her pumpkin, she inhaled the fresh pumpkin smells from the room. It reminded her of fall back home and how her father used to roast the seeds and make pie. It also made her crave spiced cider. There wasn't much better than a hot mug of spiced cider and a slice of pumpkin pie.
