Lydia watched the professor cast a spell on the sleeping girl's head. Her hair transformed into a really nasty yellowish-green color. Lydia made a face. She was so glad that wasn't her. How could anyone fall asleep during a class here anyway? Everything was so fascinating! It amused her to watch a Hufflepuff poke the sleeping snake in the back. The older girl's snappish reply was to be expected.

Turning her attention back to Professor Grimsbane, Lydia considered the question. She wanted to come up with something good, something maybe worth house points. Hmm, this was a tough one. Some good answers had already been given, and she didn't want to repeat anything and sound like a dumb little firstie. Something creative...

"Maybe the bad person conjures something to attack you. They use a spell like serpensortia or something. You could use duro to turn the thing to stone, make it harmless," said Lydia.

Hopefully that was a good enough answer. Creativity had never really been her strong suit.

Hmm, that made her think of something. "Professor Grimsbane," she said. "I have a question. Does duro only work on solids? For instance, if someone cast incendio at you, could you turn the fire to stone? Or even water?"
