Oops. Hadn't meant to scare the first year...which was why Derf sent him a bit of an apologetic look before stepping inside. You'd think that he was doing something WRONG sitting out side of the room listening in or something - the first year, that is. At least that was the sort of JUMP reaction Derf often had - when he was doing something he ought not to.

It took Derf an embarrassingly long couple of seconds once he was in the spare office to figure out what she meant. Mostly because he hadn't intended on being an audience member to anything and he really hadn't been standing here all THAT long to really constitute being one...had he? It was sorta more like he was rubbernecking. Just without the accident that the term was usually associated with.
"Huh? Oh!" But the Hufflepuff knew how to humor a person, so he offered a bit of a hurried applause after leaning his guitar against the door frame.
And then Reese was pushing his way by him and into the office too.
