Oh good, he agreed!! She was just trying to be the helpful older student, because why not? "Okay, so it's mighty useful when it comes to undoing transfigurations, but the pronunciation is 're-ver-TOE' and it's a light wand flourish, like so," Skylar demonstrated, the quill returning to its previous form.
Except because she wanted to see him do it, Skylar almost wished she'd just shown but not acted on it. No matter though, because with an incomplete 'D' shape and a non-verbal 'Doo-roh', she had the quill back hardened again. Sure it wasn't the spell they were learning, but he should learn how to undo transfigurations. "You wanna give it a try?" Re-ver-TOE. Okay, easy enough.
He made sure to pay close attention to the girl's wand movement, and mimicked it as she demonstrated it to him, his eyes growing larger when his quill had, indeed, turned back to its initial form. And then... it was back to stone? He'd been too fascinated to notice that she'd cast Duro non-verbally, once again awed by it. When would he be able to cast non-verbal spells? Merlin knows, he'd tried, but was never successful. There were just certain things that books couldn't teach him, and he felt this was one of them.
But back to Reverto. Nodding enthusiastically, he picked up with wand and copied the girl's wand movement, focusing on turning his quill back to normal, and spoke clearly, "Reverto!" In just a moment, his quill was no longer grey, but back to its usual pristine white.
... he had to touch it to make sure it was back to normal.
Turning to look back at the Slytherin, he beamed at her. "Thank you so much for helping me!" Now he could freely practice on his own possessions. |
