Fluttery Pegasi And there was Beth. Quinn was actually surprised her friend had been punctual enough to make in before the door sealed over again. She gave Beth a silent smile as a greeting, and returned to the book she'd found on the theory of conjuration as Beth went on about meeting someone and tapped her on the shoulder.
Quinn snapped her head to look at her friend annoyed. Fine. Quinn closed the conjuration book, but didn't return it to the shelf. She'd humor Beth for a bit, because honestly that was easier, and then return to reading. Tucking the book under her arm, she followed Beth to a chair where an older girl was sitting reading about, Quinn ducked her head ever so slightly to get a better glimpse of the book's title, hexes. The edges of her lips curled a tiny bit into a smile at that. If nothing else, she approved of the girl's reading materials.
Quinn watched and studied the older snake, Eria, as Beth made the introductions, silently appraising her in much the same probbing manner she herself was appraising Quinn. Curious. Eria was intriguing in a number of ways, and quite different from anyone else she'd met in Hogwarts. "Pleasure," she said finally as way of greeting. Beth had covered the rest. Quinn continued to study Eria until Eria summoned the chairs and invited them to sit down. The chairs were rather comfortable, honestly. As soon as Quinn was seated, she reached into her bag and pulled out her own book. It was leather bound and lacked any title or descriptive markings to indicate what the book might be. She set the theory of conjuration book on the arm of the chair and tapped it with her wand. "Effingo Librum." Something seemed to be drawn from the book, not unlike a memory being drawn from a person. It followed the tip of Quinn's wand until she tapped her nondescript book once, then it flowed freely from one book to the other.
Now she had a copy of the book to read at length later. She slipped her own book back into her bag and placed the conjuration book on the table, curiously inspecting the book that was already sitting on it. She recognized the author, and was a fan. It seemed Eria and her had a bit in common.
Quinn sat back in the chair and smiled briefly with a shrug. "I can't help it if he couldn't handle a little story."
