Zoryn was only half paying attention as Abra dressed the team. Mostly because she felt like she ought to have been the one up there in his position, but also because she was still incredibly annoyed at how stupid this school broom was. How had she managed to use one her whole first year? That was the real mystery of Hogwarts. Anyways, she did pay attention when beaters were given their task for the day. She was feeling pretty confident about this whole tryout thing (at least she had been before she had to wrestle with a broom). Hopefully the next task would be loads more manageable than the preliminary laps.

Before heading towards the other end of the pitch, the Gryffindor flew down to grab a bat from the trunk. Yet another thing she was made to leave at home. Her bat. Her special, lucky beater’s bat. Not that these ones were any different. Unlike brooms, bats were pretty standard and were made at pretty much the same quality. It was just her familiar grip and the countless victories behind her old one that made using an unfamiliar one frustrating.

Either way, she grabbed one of them from the trunk and made her way to the end of the pitch where all the targets were set up. It took her a moment to balance on the new broom, now that she was carrying some extra weight. But soon enough she was swinging at bludgers and sending them towards targets, at first focusing on the stagnant ones.

It was no surprise that she was able to hit them right at their center on the first go. She lived for this. There was really no other position she’d ever want to play. Not willingly, anyway. She loved getting to swing a bat and DESTROY things. Only, it was more fun when your target was an enemy player. Zoryn Spinnet had sent her fair share of players to the hospital wing with very little remorse. It was the way of the game, of course.
