She used the few moments Derf and Ewan were talking about hair to wrap her mind around the possibilities. Surely he would need some help, not that she was very good at charms or transfiguration. However, she could read a book and she wasn't afraid of getting hurt testing the chess board out.

"Thanks for not telling on us. I mean, I don't even know if anyone would care what we are up to, but I've always felt it's better to do it and ask for forgiveness than get a no before you even start." She eyed Ewan, hoping he wouldn't mind what she was going to say next. "How about we make a little deal. Ewan and I are attempting to make our own chocolate. Super yummy magically made chocolate." She paused again to let that set in. She was well aware of Derf's love of chocolate frogs and hoped it extended to all forms of chocolate. "I'd really like to help you with your project too. It sounds really exciting and a little dangerous. Just my style. So, if we supply you with chocolate...assuming it's edible, which I think it will be...will you let me help you? Ewan too, if he wants."

She flashed him her brightest smile in hopes he would really take her offer into consideration. She secretly promised herself to not blush or act all google eyed around him again if he would say yes. Plus, she was done with feeling embarrassed. Over it.
