Not that she thought he was only helping out to get something in return. Humans were that way, elves weren't. They helped often because they wanted to and because they had kind and gentle souls. They helped without the expectation of reward.

And they probably deserved a reward more than anyone else, so she was offering, as long as it was in her ability, she would return the favor.
