Even for Ewan, this was a new situation. He’d never really played the Uke in front of anyone before. Well, except his mother and father, but they didn’t count. As she entered the room more now, the shadow lifting from her face, Ewan stopped plucking the musical instrument. She didn’t need to hear him play. Especially that song!
Taking a deep breath, he continued to look into her eyes briefly before rearranging his slightly shocked facial expression into a friendly smile. You could tell a lot about a person from the look in their eyes and Ewan could tell that Olivia was unsure of what to do. Choosing to ‘forget’ the whole book falling incident, he continued to smile, reassuringly. At least, he hoped it was a reassuring smile. He could never tell. “Oh, hey, it’s no problem. I was uh..” Blushing now slightly, he held up his Ukulele for her to see. The dark sheen of the koa wood reflected the dim light that shone into the room from the open door, making it look almost magical. Well, what a muggle may call magical.
“Do... you play the Uke?” amused now at her hand, still clutching the door knob. She was in Ravenclaw too, so they really should get to know each other. “You can have a go of mine if you want?” tapping the space next to him on the floor now, as if daring her to come join him. Ewan really was trying to make her forget their first encounter.
