Heading out to the pitch, figuring she'd do a few laps before tryouts began, she stopped short at seeing a familiar small blond Hufflepuff.
She looked ... scared, maybe? And Skylar debated for a moment offering advice. On one hand, she was a captain and was meant to display sportsmanship (which she normally did well for the last three years that'd she'd played on a team, save for her first loss against Gryffindor last year but it was more for an individual than the house). But on the other hand, what if helping her would reduce chances at another Slytherin victory? That was a ridiculous notion though, because she'd helped Isa at the end of last summer.
"You ever fly?" Skylar asked, trying to recall if she'd seen her in flying classes before or not.
Had Maddie not been so focused on the thought of Quidditch tryouts, she would have never, ever been so startled at the sudden sound of someone else's voice. As it was, though, she had forgotten her surroundings at first and jumped ever-so-slightly at Skylar's voice. Oh, great...one of the captains. Who better than to make a fool out of herself in front of than a captain?
"Oh, yeah, of course," she said, with a smile. She was a third year, and even though she'd never played Quidditch on a house team, she had definitely flown before. It wasn't the flying part that scared her. It was the Quidditch part.
"I was just looking at the pitch...thinking about trying out for the team." She doubted she would actually go through with it, but she would at least give it a thought or two.
She stood nice and tall, trying not to look so frightened.
"My captain's encouraging me to try out..." she said, trailing off a little.
"Oh, and hi...by the way." She laughed softly and smiled at the older girl.
