Nettie watched her kitten as it explored his way up to the window, putting his paws on the glass and looking outside at the scenery as they whooshed past. A few moments later, her attention turned to the door as a very excitable girl entered her compartment. She looked...older than her? Maybe? Nettie couldn't tell but grinned anyways.
"Sure!" she said. She didn't know if this girl was just being nice or not, but one of her biggest fears was sitting by herself the entire way to Hogwarts - because who would want to sit with a tiny first year like her?? Thankfully those fears were proving to be unfounded. She grinned again and scooted over to make some room.
"I'm Trinetta, but I go by Nettie for short," she told the older girl with a smile.
Maddie grinned. A little part of her was afraid the girl would think she was a little weird for just bouncing on in a stranger's compartment. Nettie, as she called herself, didn't seem weirded out at all, though.
"Cool!" Maddie said, and she finished her way inside and slid the compartment door closed.
"Your cat seems pretty excited to go to Hogwarts, too," she added with a laugh.
"Are you new? I'm not. I'm going to be a third year." Yeah. She was still a little too proud about the whole turning into a teenager thing.
"I'm Madeline," she said, following Nettie's lead,
"but nobody calls me that. It's Maddie." They might have become friends, too, had it not been for a loud shriek sounding in the corridor. The third year looked toward her new friend.
"Either somebody's already in trouble, or there's something really cool and interesting going on." She poked her head out into the corridor to see what all the fuss was about.
