Finally, Lydia opened the package and selected a bean at random. It was yellow. She popped it into her mouth, fully prepared to savor the delicious flavor and...BLECH. In a very unladylike manner, she spat the bean out into her hand. Cheeks flaming in embarrassment she turned to the other girls.

"Ok, I wasn't expecting that!"

Nettie shrugged. "Normal stuff, chocolates and fudge - oh, peppermint toads! We have those in France," she said with a nod. She'd heard of some of these before, but not many. Bertie Botts was DEFINITELY a new one. The idea of popping a jelly bean in her to mouth, and having it potentially be something disgusting, was NOT her idea of a fun time. Her eyes widened as the girl took one and then promptly spit it out. "What was it?!" she asked curiously.

"Are you a first year too?" she asked the new girl politely. She looked like she was her age, and she was asking questions about candy - she HAD to be new, just like her.
