Lovely™ | Captain Hurted | Ariana's Bane | Resident Antagonist | Unparalleled Delight Suffice it to say, Abra had been operating on a level of disbelief since getting his badge. The idea had been to keep the whole thing a secret until he could be absolutely certain he hadn't been given it by mistake, or as some kind of joke, but that had sort of gotten away from him, just a little. His whole family, which naturally included West and Alice, already knew, and so did just one of his friends, who was due to be in this same compartment. Other than that, though? Total secret. Until today.
Keeping the badge concealed in the palm of his hand for the moment (he wasn't in his robes yet, so technically he wasn't defying any instructions) Abra made his way to the prefect compartment. In his good news, he had actually managed to find an awful lot to worry about; his thoughts were going a mile a minute despite his efforts to focus on other things. He reached the Prefects' Compartment, still with his mind on possible mistakes and practical jokes and Junia and also Zoryn and all that sort of stuff, so much so that he had to consciously redirect his attention to the small matter of convincing himself to walk through the door.
Ultimately, convince himself he did. Taking a deep breath, and acting on the first surge of 'you can do it!' that rushed through him, Abra pushed open the door and stepped inside. He had forgotten, for the moment, to affix his badge to his shirt, finding that the cool (though now much warmer) metal, and its unmistakable shape, helped to ground him, to remind him that he really was (probably) supposed to be here. "Uh..." Abra said, letting the door slide closed behind him as he nervously addressed those in the compartment at large with a small wave. "Hey, guys." Derf wasn't here yet, and Abra tried not to look too visibly put out by, or anxious about, that. Kirk, he knew from Quidditch, though they'd not shared many words in the past beyond post-game niceties. Vivian had obviously been prefect the year before, and was dormmates or something with Junia. Hattie and Ronan were familiar by association, and from seeing them around school, and they were just as new here in the compartment as he was. So was Stasya, the person he probably knew best in the room, by virtue of actually having age, friends, and house in common. He smiled at her. "Stasya. Well done on the... oh!"
The thought and sight of the other badges in the room suddenly reminded Abra of what he was holding, and he quickly fixed his own red and gold Quidditch Captain pin to the front of his jacket. He did his best to hurriedly polish away the smudges from its shiny surface with the cuff of his sleeve, before turning his attention back to Stasya. "... on the badge."
Then he quickly took up a seat, before he could make himself look like too much of an idiot.
