Again though he couldn't help it. Telling him not to when all he could really to do was to. It was like Uncle Morty cornering him in a game of Wizard's Chess, forcing him to make moves he doesn't want to make but he must. "sorry" he whispered to her back. Then stepped aside so that the Mum could talk to the daughter.
And instantly he was cornered once more. He wasn't attending Hogwarts until next year! Not this year?! Was she listening? He eyed her again and caught those same eyes this time looking directly at him. This girl would get along well with Xaria. "Ye-yeah..I'm going to be a first year. Nex... This September. I Turn 11 Nex...I turned 11 just this July" WHY WAS THIS SO HARD!? Mark couldn't Lie if his life depended on it. He looked back outside the window to where his Mum was at. Could she please come in now? He was getting pretty nervous having to fib for a Girl he just met.
Wait..Did her Mum just say she's buying Quinn a Broom? "She can't bring a broom to Hogwarts." He pointed at Quinn. That Lady's daughter. Which she knew that...Mark just rudely pointed at someone and well he'll just have to remember not to do that again later. "1st Years have to use the School provided brooms. It's what my Older Sister's Letter reads for her Hogwarts letter which she got just this year."
But it seems that Lady had already gone off on her way. He was unsure if his protest was heard at all. So he turned back around and looked at Quinn. "Why do you get to bring a Broom to School, and I won't be allowed to?" his eyes darted back to his Mum now outside the Window. Why is this so unfair?
Discussion on Quodpot can wait. Quinn closed her eyes, bracing for the inevitable fall out with her Mother....that never came. Fortunately, Mum paid attention to Mark as well as she did Quinn. She sighed in relief and gave Mark her best withering glare. And she was good at withering glares. "You're really awful at lying you know that?" Boy chided, Quinn dropped the glare. "Not that it mattered, I doubt my Mother heard a thing you said. Don't take it personally, she barely hears anything I say as well."
Ah, yes the broom. Quinn casually studied the boy as if debating on something. On the one hand, he did try to help, on the other hand, if her Mum had been anyone else at all, he would have gotten her busted a dozen times over. She shrugged. "Special treatment because I'm pretty sure my Mum is having an affair with the Headmistress... or she just bribed her. Either or. Or both. Could be both. And so I get to bring a broom." She shrugged again as if to say, 'life's not fair.' "After all, we are Kevelles..." She said it in an impressive imitation of her Mother, and like she was expecting him to know them by name alone, and be impressed, because in her Mother's messed up head, being rich made you famous.
Quinn rolled her eyes, and glanced back to the front of the shop. Her Mother was already starting to look impatient and annoyed. She grinned and turned back to Mark. "So, Quodpot?"
