Exotic Dish! Otter This World ♡ Catpurrccino ♡ Slotherin ♡ Pandamonium Cassie didn't allow her nervousness to show for this round instead flashing the audience a bright smile. Exotic dishes weren't at all her strong suit but she did have one particular meal in mind for today that she hoped everyone would like.
She started by gathering up all the needed ingredients. First she got to work with removing the lobster meat from the shells which just so happened to be only the tail portions. The meat was then sliced into nice even sized little cubes and set aside.
Taking a large saucepan and placing it on the stove she got a medium heat going under it. Into the pan went some vegetable oil. When the oil was hot she slowly stirred in some a blend of Asian spices letting the mixture saute for about a minute or so. Now to add in a few cups of fish broth but only after a very quiet incantation was whispered over the liquid and gave it a little stir. Washing a lime quickly, she then used a microplane to grate about a tablespoon or so of the rind of the lime right into the saucepan. Once it started to boil it was time to add the rice. Placing the cover on top of the pan and turning down the heat she left it to simmer for a few minutes.
Now to prepare the rest of the ingredients. She began to slice up several large mushrooms setting them aside. Then she went on the chop up two green onions setting that aside as well. Some fresh chopped cilantro was also placed aside. She halved one bird chile.
Grabbing a pot holder so as not to burn herself she removed the lid from the pan setting the lid down. About a cup of unsweetened coconut milk was added and then the sliced mushrooms. For the next few minutes Cassie kept a close eye on the food that was cooking in a lovely orange broth stirring it every few moments. In went the lobster meat, green onion, bird chile and a bit of cilantro. All she had to do was let it finish cooking.
Finally it was done. It smelled wonderful! Could the audience and judges all smell it? She hoped so.
Shutting the heat off and removing the pan from the stove she added some fresh lime juice and mixed it all in well. Cassie filled a fancy large clear bowl with the orange soup so everyone could clearly see the food. She sprinkled just a touch of cilantro on top. Into the bowl went a spoon to match. "What we have here is my Spicy Thai Lobster Soup. That broth will cause you to blow bubbles for a few seconds." Orange bubbles to be exact. She thought the children might enjoy that part. With another smile to the audience she went about serving up smaller portions of her soup into littler bowls.
