| Exotic Dish: Hoppies Surprise! Jedi Master•General Iroh•Java Junkie• King ♛ Stefan •Mycroft Holmes•Dragon Lord•Druid Boy Jeremy was proud of his entry and was even more pumped to get on the second round of the competition. He'd been looking forward to that, considering that he's already got the perfect recipe in his mind. The weirder the better? Well, why not? He would've gone full mode avant-garde on this one, but he was quickly reminded that this wasn't the USA. If anything, the Brits are a lot more...proper, you know? They might not appreciate what weird and highly experimental really meant. But before starting, he'd gone to the front to get a taste of this Giggling Galette. He'd need to try one, for the giggles, and to gauge if he has any chance of topping that one off.
Jeremy went back to his station, giggling and wiping away a tear. "Oh man...that was good!" he said pointing at Lorraine, and even gave her a wink despite the giggles. "But...hahaha. It's my turn. Psshhehehhe." With a wave of his wand pots and pans flew to him and perfectly landed on his workstation. And while all of them cleaned itself, the former Gryffindor went on to collect his ingredients. Coughing out the last of his giggles, Jeremy then went down to business. It was his time to shiiiiine!
First off, the rose thorns. A handful was placed in a small bowl and each thorn was snapped into two to release its deadly juice. Once that was done and over with, a quick wave of the wand was done over it, and a trace of liquid rose from the bowl and into another clean bowl. Jeremy took out a measuring cup from underneath his workstation and poured out a good amount of spicy sriracha mayo in it, and added it to the rose thorn juice. Vigorous mixing was made, and the concoction was set aside for later.
Next was the freshly harvested green grasshoppers. A quick stunning spell was done on the bag, and all of the grasshoppers inside ceased all movement. A dash of cooking oil was put in a clean frying pan, the heat set on high, and the poorgrasshoppers were added to it for a quick fry. As Jeremy stirred the contents of his frying pan, tiny squeals were heard. Welp...it has to be done, people. Not to worry though, because they were a good source of protein, and a lot of muggles actually eat them as a delicacy. After it was fried and crunchy enough to be eaten, those too were set aside, and further cleaned by Jeremy as he took out its legs. They wouldn't want to have grasshopper legs stuck in between their teeth, right? The man kept it in a charmed steel bowl so it would remain warm and crunchy for later.
Next were the boring parts. Flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper were added and mixed in a bowl, and the milk and eggs were added later on into the mix. Pleased with how smooth his batter has become, that too was set aside, as Jeremy went on to fill his saucepan with oil. The heat was set again to high and placed his metal thermometer inside to monitor its temperature. He didn't want his fillet to be soggy or worse...burnt. While he waited for the right reading, the man took out his cod fillet, cleaned it, and placed even knife strokes on its surface. Once that was done, he went back to his fried grasshoppers, and stuffed it with the sriracha spicy mayo, rose thorn juice infused concoction. Each of the stuffed grasshoppers was then wedged in between the slices he made on the cod fillet. When he was done, he went on to dredge each of his cod fillets in the batter and was carefully dipped into the saucepan for deep frying. While that was cooking, another saucepan was summoned, filled it with cooking oil and a dash of sea salt. Cooked and sliced potato wedges were dumped inside as soon as the oil was hot enough for proper deep frying.
While waiting for his timer to set off, Jeremy got a nice plate out, and smaller ones for sampling. Old pages from the Daily Prophet were also laid out and was made into cones for his samples, they were into these wharf things, right? Right. Minutes passed, and soon enough, the flames were put out and the plating began. The fried cod fillet was placed on top of a bed of french fries, or rather, chips, and the entire dish was lightly drizzled with his special sriracha spicy mayo. Samples were also prepared in the pre-made newspaper cones, and a small tub was also provided for the sauce. "Soigne," Jeremy announced, telling the people that his creation came out excellent. "Hoppies Surprise! My take on the classic Fish and Chips." And the real surprise? They were bound to feel "in love" with life as soon as the special sriracha mayo touches their tongues. The secret? The rose thorn juice. "Service!"
