| Puff by day, snake by night | Mj's bestie | Always UP to Something... presents Turmoil in the Ministry, Coincidence or planned? August, 2095
by: Kara St. Cloud
Recent reports out of the Ministry of Magic indicate that there may be some type of turmoil brewing as no less than five department heads departed within days of each other. This is the highest in Ministry history, and no clear explanations for the mass exodus have yet been provided. It comes amongst reports of a persistent rapid turnover rate of lower level employees. This was something raised by many candidates during election season, but something we have never heard discussed by the newest minister of magic. Could it be something in the water? Or is the ever-wacky behavior of Minister Morgan P. Nickels driving people away?
The departing department heads have been identified as Erec Decroix of International Magical Cooperation, Mariel De La Garza of Magical Games and Sports, Gidyun and Becca Yenorin of Magical Law Enforcement and Magical Creatures respectively and Delphine Cavanagh, the now former Senior Undersecretary and head of the Minister’s Office. Of their replacements, only Victoria Culloden (Magical Games and Sports) and January Bones (Senior Undersecretary/Minister’s Office) can boast of being from the British Ministry itself (though the information was scarce for Mercy Peckham) furthering speculation that it is indeed the Minister’s behavior driving people away. The rest of the replacements have been pulled from other countries entirely, with two from France (Isaac Muir and Conley Phora, Magical Law Enforcement and International Magical Cooperation respectively), signaling that news of the turmoil has not yet reached beyond the borders of Great Britain.
Further complicating matters is the news of some sort of mass food poisoning event in the past year, causing rumors of Minister Nickels’ behavior now affecting his ability to properly run the Ministry. Rumors of the potential food poisoning surfaced late December, but the Minster's office has recently confirmed that the food court was hit by an odd set of food poisoning that they can not explain. Was it bad eggs or something more sinister? When asking for a comment from the Minister himself we were told he was too busy to worry about the press. Could the minister really be working hard or is he trying to get the Ministry to pay for another vacation like he did earlier this year with his employee orientation being at a ski lodge instead of the more usual formal affairs?
We here at the Daily Prophet are keeping a close eye on this situation and will bring you more as we learn it.
