She certainly seemed genuine enough. "If I come up with anything, I promise I'll let you see," he finally decided. It'd be good to have a second opinion after all, right?

He listened intently when she spoke about her summer, making sure to nod in all the right places just like his older brother had advised. Miss Teen Wizard Pageant? He didn't even know that was a thing. Before he had a chance to wish her luck though... Was she inviting him over? To her house? The tips of his ears burned pinker and suddenly Max felt himself nodding. "Okay. Okay yeah. I'm not a very good swimmer but I do like eating." ... And now he felt like an idiot because what a stupid thing to say. Doh!
