So she was starting to get that boy crazy fever. Merlin help her. She looked at the nearest group of boys curiously, wondering what Muggle girls talked about if not Quidditch and the normal things from the wizard world. For the sake of being able to go on a lunch date with them though, she was willing to find out! And if she had known what Sky was thinking about the currency issue, she would have told her and Vivi that they could try to flirt their way to a free meal if it came to that. Haha!...? But really though that was a thing.
At the mention of free samples, Kye was completely on board with getting in line before it got absurdly long. When they had reached the front, Kye decided not to assume that each of the samples was for them. Maybe Sky wanted all three? After all, there were apparently tons of flavors! Kye had her eye on a couple in particular. She smiled at the shopkeeper and spoke up. "Hi! Uhm, can I get a sample of the peanut butter fudge, and one of the birthday cake please?". Obviously she knew how peanut butter fudge tasted, but it was her favorite! And she was genuinely curious about the birthday cake flavor... At least the Muggle version. She didn't think it would be a mix of the actual taste of cake and ice cream mixing in her mouth. That was probably a little too Willy Wonka for Dufftown. Ah, she hoped she had enough time to eat these before they got to their next destination and to hold them over until they found lunch dates a lunch spot. Quote:

Sky's comment on snogs, however, led Vivian's cheeks to turn into a shade of pink. The prefect had to stop herself from further commenting that she didn't need to go on a school field trip to get any of them, but thanks anyway. Now that Sky had mentioned it, though, the idea didn't seem entirely bad so long as they didn't get caught. "Those can wait," was all she managed. But for now, she'd rather spend time with friends, and she'd let Chase spend his time admiring architecture too since that was something he'd probably be really interested in. Oh, and the skirt trend wasn't planned for.
Flirting their way to a free meal? Not a bad idea either. Would that work? She had never tried.
"I would never say no to ice cream," Vivian commented. Though the dessert would never amount to her love for marshmallows, it was still very high up her list of favourite--a second, she believed. Marshmallows on ice cream was a different story though. "Thank you, ma'am," she told the lady with a smile. Heavenly sweets, what a sight.
Turning to watch other shops they could visit, Vivian caught sight of Hattie, raised her hand to give the Puff a wave, and smiled at her. The prefect was well-aware that she and Sky weren't in the best of terms lately, but that didn't mean she couldn't be a friend to Hattie. She didn't need to choose sides and be in that level of immaturity. Vivian made a mental note to go see Hattie later on, just to check on her and be a nice friend.
Anyhow, they still hadn't decided where to head to. "Where to?" she asked her dormies. Quote:

If they found boys, they found boys. She could live either way, but she wouldn't mind eating lunch with some of the local Muggle boys should the opportunity present itself! Kye tried her ice cream sample and let out a satisfied "Mmmm." Anyone who didn't like peanut butter fudge was CRAZY. She finished this sample and held onto the serving of birthday cake ice cream. Only a few minutes later, Kye let out a noise that was a mix of confusion, surprise, and near exasperation. HER ICE CREAM WAS MELTING! It sat there in the little cup, turning into a rainbow soup. Thank goodness it wasn't on a cone at least. Kye started eating it before it fully melted, and was confused by the taste. As she had expected, it wasn't quite like normal ice cream. Not that she could explain how, but either way it wasn't bad! She ate a few more bites before deciding she was done with ice cream for now. Now... which way did they need to go? Was there a map or directory or something? Or would they just go wherever they felt like it until they were properly lost? Quote:

Bored. Bored. Bored.
There was nothing interesting to do in Dufftown. He was meant to be going to the cinema in the next town over, but then the best mate had only gone and got himself grounded and stuck at home. So here he was. Hanging out on his own.
But then voices...so many voices. Around his age, too. A smile came onto his face as he too headed over towards the free samples. "Hey Ms McKinley!" he greeted the owner with a lopsided grin. He rummaged in his pocket for a couple of quid for a cone as he joined in the line, ball still at his feet. "You mean custard cream?" he questioned the boy in front of him (Dorian). "Nah, I don't think they they do." Weird choice that was, a biscuit flavoured ice cream. Although if anyone could make it taste good, Ms McKinley could.
And the growing crowd gave him an idea of how to while away the afternoon. "Hey...anyone fancy a kickabout on the field after?"
Worth a try, at least. Quote:

But today? Today, Duncan Williams was in an exceptional mood and you didn't have to be particularly observant to see it either. His usually neutral expression was replaced with a half-smile, half-smirk that had nothing to do with the historical landmarks nearby or the fact one of the women nearby was giving away free ice cream samples.
Though, he had a feeling that Mel would appreciate the rich history, especially Muggle history, in this village. It was her area of expertise. His area of expertise was sitting in a box in his pocket. He might've otherwise looked calm and casual as he stood there in his Muggle attire, but his fingers were gently stroking a familiar looking box that contained a familiar looking ingredient inside. "I think it's time to pass the pixie dust along," he whispered to Mel, the French slipping through as a sign of precaution. Quote:

There were too many people in this street! No, buses were not supposed to go down this street, but the bus driver had seemed to have lost his mind! He smashed his fist into horn multiple times, the noise enough to irritate anyone near the scene.
Quite the distracting scene, wasn't it?
The drive argued briefly with a muggle from his window as he continued to bump the horn. Before anyone could tell him off even more, the bus driver suddenly stepped on the gas and took off. It sped away as quickly as it had come. Quote:

The plan. Duncan gripped the box in his pocket with one hand, the other hand reaching into his other pocket to take out his wand. He didn't need to do what he was planning on doing, not when there were so many Muggles nearby, but he was a man who liked precaution and this was simply one way to cover up his tracks. While Melanie did her thing, he moved away from her and quietly made his way towards a certain familiar face.
It was then that a number of things happened at once.
There was a loud screeching sound as a violent red bus came to a sudden stop in the middle of the street. A number of people nearby turned to look at the commotion and the bus driver started arguing with a random muggle. While all of this was going on, Duncan slipped the box out of his pocket, held it up close to Kaysha's face and blew gently. The powdery contents were already blowing towards the Muggle Studies professor's face but Duncan wasn't lingering around to watch. He slipped back towards his previous position next to Mel as quickly as he could and lifted the charm on his body. "It's been done. Now we wait for the next phase..." Skylar had about a million and one thoughts running through her head, as she gazed into the distant lands where Balvenie castle laid ahead and the rolling green hills. Also, she requested three samples, one of her and one of each of her roommates, but apparently the shopkeeper person was open to giving samples of ANY flavors?? But she'd eat all three, no biggie. Literally, because they were just sample-sized.
And had the younger Ravenclaw whom she influenced in Creatures-Astro lesson a few weeks ago really just asked for CANARY CREAM?? Merlin, kids these days had zero tact. Apparently Kaysha Stewart had neglected to inform them of etiquette, focusing instead on attire.... Yes they could blend in with attire, but choice words were important too. They couldn't just go around willy-nilly saying or doing whatever.
She smiled politely though at the shopkeeper, taking the three samples, "Thank you," and polishing off one sample in about two seconds. Not as good as Floreans, but not the worst ice cream either.
Before she could speak up about Kye wanting to go exploring, her eyes wandered over to the boy dribbling and honestly, she half wanted to play kickabout ... because it sounded fun. Except she was the only one of her roomies wearing jeans and she wasn't about to leave them and doubted they'd be able to play - or want to even - in their skirts. Because they weren't Skylar; she, on the other hand, would run around in just about any sort of attire, without a care. But again, that was her, not her friends.
And speaking of friends ... was that .....Actually truthfully, Skylar probably wouldn't have remembered them had it not been for Natalie's prodding earlier in the year about the prediction from Divination last year. But because she'd been forced to recall it, now seeing them again brought a whole new array of feelings and confusion to the sixth year. The Williams twins. Writing a letter.
But of course she couldn't just be alone with her thoughts because there was a loud screech and Skylar found herself instinctively jumping out of the way, pulling Vivian and Kye with her, her remaining ice cream samples going splat in the road.... "WHAT IN THE NAME OF MERLIN!?!" Which of course, meant that the snake captain also missed the male twin disappearing from view and sprinkling something all over Kaysha.
Um. "About that exploring ..." she mumbled, eying her melted ice cream on the asphalt.
