First things were, logically enough, first. In the case of his first day at work, that meant a meeting in the Assembly Chamber. It was a lot easier than he had anticipated, getting around the department. Jasper had been plagued with dreams (perhaps closer to nightmares) the night before, about accidentally finding himself in some extra mysterious Mysteries room, and becoming trapped for days or weeks or months before anyone thought to look for him. Such dreams were hardly the norm for the usually cool, calm, and collected young man, but he'd recovered from his stressful night rather well, if you asked him. And now look, at the right place, totally on time, and not lost to oblivion in the space chamber.
As he entered the room and sat down, Jasper tried to guess who of his coworkers worked in which room. He knew the Unspeakables from the Hall of Prophecy of course, sort of, after having an hour or so to get acquainted with the place before the meeting, but as for the others, that was a little more difficult. Flamsteed, of course, he knew. The hot chocolate incident from orientation flashed in his mind.
Speaking of which... Jasper suddenly noticed the man in question was doing that weird thing again. Sitting as still as a statue and staaaaaring at one of Jasper's coworkers from the Hall of Prophecy, but... not really looking at him or even through him. Just... staring. Had he always done that? Jasper wracked his brains, trying to remember the year he was briefly at Hogwarts, but he'd never studied Astronomy and had spent very little time near Flamsteed, so he couldn't know for sure. Something told him he'd have heard of it from someone. Hogwarts kids weren't the sort to let that kind of thing go un-ridiculed.
Anyway. Yes. What was that about?
"Uh...?"
