So ... they had to sit for the remainder of the lesson and write an essay? Something that could easily have been done from the comfort her own dorm where she usually took to writing such things? It wasn't that the topic was uninteresting, but merely that she felt she could have made better use of her lesson time than sitting here in the classroom if all she was meant to do was write an essay. And apparently they would be studying the subject more in depth at a later date? This was why people frequently SLEPT in History of Magic.

Sighing, she didn't even bother opening her text because she already knew enough of the basics. Besides, no doubts that Curtains would talk for five hours about it at a later date. Dipping her quill into its inkwell, Skylar began to write:

I believe that if there was no such jinx on the Defense position, then Severus Snape would have lasted as professor. He knew both the dark arts and defense against it, creating spells and curses that no one should ever use. He was an innovator, brilliant mind, who was able to work as a triple agent, in fooling two of the supposedly greatest wizards ever. If that doesn't qualify someone to teach Defense Against the Dark Arts, then I'm not sure what does? Sadly, he met his demise in sacrificing himself, so as to not give himself away as to his true nature. What could be more wholesome and pure and forgiving than that?

As far as other jinxes against Hogwarts? Absolutely. I'm not sure it was with malintention, but I do believe the Astronomy Position was cursed recently, as up until this year, I had a different Astronomy professor for my first five years at Hogwarts. Perhaps a coincidence, perhaps not, but I'm grateful that Professor Kennedy proved the potential jinx wrong and broke it. I do also believe that everyone has enemies, secret or known. It is human nature to be envious. To want what others have, even if you have it all. So coincidence, or not, it's inevitable what has been happening in recent years because that's just life.

She wasn't sure that was what he was looking for, but that was what she'd written and that was the essay he was getting. Setting her quill down, she glanced up and waited to see if there was more she was expected to add or not...
