He smiled self-deprecatingly, but he was only half joking.

Refocusing on his work, he carefully pinned the paper to the tiny dress he'd brought as a guide and cut around the areas where the pins were. Soon he had a pattern to use. He unrolled the fish print fabric over the table, pinned the paper pattern he'd just made, and carefully cut around it. So far, so good. Now he just had to figure out the sewing machine...

He scrutinized the machine in front of him for a minute. If he could rebuild a car engine, surely he could figure out this contraption! He would be embarrassed if he couldn't... Okay, so it looked like the spool of thread went on that thing at the side and went down. He selected a spool of turquoise thread from the drawer and threaded it through the machine, making sure it didn't tangle. Slowly but surely, he stitched the pieces of the tiny sundress together, taking care to keep his fingers far out of the way.

Eventually he'd produced a decent-looking little dress. The stitching wasn't as straight as it should've been in places, but it would do. Now all he had to do was attach some kind of fastener at the back. He decided to use snaps instead of buttons... easier to get on and off and much easier to attach.
When he'd finished, he looked around the room at the mannequins, but he didn't see one small enough. He could easily shrink one with a quick spell,
but somehow he didn't think Kaysha would approve. He turned to her.
"I don't think any of these will fit..."

"You're welcome.'' Kay laughed. "And we certainly wouldn't be the last. Though I'm sure you're the only who would add an extra leg.'' She was only making a little joke with him. The woman decided to watch him work for a while then indicated to that she would be back in a few minutes to see his progress. She didn't want to hover around to make him nervous or anything like that. Besides, she had her own outfit to get completed and that jeans to perfect...

Kay returned after being satisfied that her jeans were passable. She was secretly proud of herself for accomplishing what she had set out to do though she did have some help and inspiration from Kye. "It's beautiful,'' she enthusiastically told the French man. "She'll love it!'' Of course, Desiree was only a baby to realise her daddy had made it for her but when she got older, Kay had no doubt that Desiree would appreciate it. Oh, right. The mannequins.

"I think I can find you a perfect one.'' And with that, she was gone again but this time, she returned with an appropriate sized mannequin which was set down on the table. "Go on. See if fits.''
